An ancient Greek silver stater of "Corinth type", struck in the city of Dyrrhachium, in the region of Illyria, circa 350 - 300 BC
The obverse with the iconic image of the mythological flying horse, Pegasos.
The reverse with the helmeted head of Athena. She is shown wearing a pushed back Corinthian helmet, the locks of her hair tumbling out from under the neck guard, club of Herakles behind. The legend readingL

"Of Dyrrhachium"
Situated at the heart of the Mediterranean on a stretch of land connecting mainland Greece to the Peloponnese, Corinth quickly become one of antiquity's most important trading destinations. The booming economy of the region soon pushed Corinth to strike some of the earliest Greek coins, around the beginning of the 5th Century BC.
These coins were traded widely throughout the ancient world and were highly influential. Hence, here we have a silver stater of Corinthian type but struck in nearby Dyrrhachium.
